I really want to set up my own modeling website, but with PayPal out of the question as a payment method, how can I accept payments? What other trusted third party payment sites are out there for those of us in this industry?

I think you can set up direct merchant accounts with Visa, Mastercard, Discover, etc. If you would rather use a third party payment processor for whatever reason, I think CCBill and PayCom will both process payments for adult-content websites.

I would think that direct merchant accounts would be less expensive, but third party payment processors might be less of a headache as you would only have to maintain contact with one company rather than 3 or more. I wonder how much of a fee the third party people charge?

I could be mistaken about this, but I think the fee for cards like Visa and Mastercard is about 2%. American Express is a little higher. It’ll cut into your income a bit, but at least you’d have control over your own site.

Yeah, I think you would do better to setup direct accounts with Visa and Mastercard at the least, if not American Express as well. Most people out there have either Visa, MC, or both.

For me, Paypal is really the best. It is the safest, and quickest. And since I have a business account, I have also received a debit card from Paypal, so that I have instant access to my money. Some people do not have good credit, therefore, they can’t get credit cards. It is much easier for them to have a Paypal account, therefore, you are open to getting more clients that way.

Paypal will drop your account if they find out you are an “adult-oriented” business. They refuse to work in the porn industry so if you are only accepting Paypal you are taking a very big risk if they freeze your account.

Pink is right, Paypal will drop you like a hot potato if they ever find out your business is in the adult industry. I have seen it happen to countless girls.
